How many soft drinks do people drink on a yearly basis?
Well, in the year 2000, the average American consumed 53 gallons of soda. That’s 5,088 tsp. of sugar. In 2018, the average American consumed 38.97 gallons of soda, which is 3,741 tsp. of sugar.
Drinking this much soda will create a lot of inflammation in the heart, kidneys, and nervous system. Soft drinks are even linked to an increased risk of bone loss. Most of the bone loss occurs in the hip.
I hope this increases your awareness of soda as a source of sugar and the mass consumption of soda.
