I decided to apply for the IHG business credit card for a few reasons. First, the welcome offer of 140,000 IHG points is great; the approximate value is around $700 towards IHG Hotels. Second, one of the main reasons why I like hotel credit cards so much is that many come with an annual free night certificate. The IHG Business Card offers one valued up to 40,000 points, and you can top it off with as many additional IHG points as you like. For example, if you want to stay at a property costing 60,000 points, then you could redeem the free night certificate and add an additional 20,000 points. Third, the IHG Business credit card earns 10X points at IHG Hotels, so I’d like to use it for my paid stays. When you combine that 10X multiplier with the additional 10X you earn for simply being an IHG Rewards member, plus the additional 6X via IHG Platinum Elite Status, that’s a total of 26X points on paid IHG hotel stays! Clearly, you can earn free nights at IHG Hotels quite quickly :D
