MY CREDIT FACTORS – AFTER
- No changes to any factors. Once you have a card relationship with Amex, future credit card applications are usually a soft pull. Also, Amex business cards do not get reported to your personal credit report, so they do not affect your credit score nor to they effect the Chase 5/24 rule.
GOOD TO KNOW
- Anecdotally, you ‘may’ get an American Express financial review if you get high credit limits from them. For that reason, a general recommendation is to stay around $35,000 or less of total credit limit across personal and business credit cards, and at $25,000 or less on an individual card. This is not a hard rule and exceptions do exist. As you saw in the video, I went from a total of $31K of total credit to a new total of $50.2K after the approval. However, I also completed a very big spend year (2021) with Amex, putting over $97K through my cards, so that could have put me into the ‘exception’ category for now.
- Also, in terms of how many Amex cards can you have, the general answer is 4-5 credit cards and 10 charge cards. I had 4 Amex credit cards prior to applying for the Hilton Honors Business Card, and with the approval, I’m now at 5 credit cards.
