Since its initial release, the Apple Card has gotten a lot of attention. Although there is not an Apple Card signup bonus at the moment, you may see limited-time offers come & go to earn Daily Cash with select partners (and sometimes straight Daily Cash, usually via Credit Karma or referral links).

That said, the Apple Card is decent for ongoing cash back rewards. It earns 3% cash back at Apple, 3% at select partner retailers when you pay with Apple Pay, 2% on other purchases when you pay with Apple Pay, and 1% back on all other purchases.

It’s a good cash back credit card with no annual fee, though likely not for an all-around card. In the areas where it earns 2% cash back or better, it’s a good choice. But for nearly everything else, there are other cash back credit cards out there that can do better (for example, the Citi Custom Cash Card and the Citi Double Cash Card are excellent ones to look into, as well as the Wells Fargo Active Cash and even the PayPal credit card). Furthermore, even higher rewards can be realized with travel credit cards, even ones that work well for travel or cash back like the Chase Freedom Flex or Chase Freedom Unlimited).

The card is light on benefits, too. You can finance Apple purchases when you pay with the Apple Card and choose Apple Card Monthly Installments at checkout. You’ll still be awarded the 3% Daily Cash up front!

Perhaps the best overall feature of the card is its ease of use and transparency. You can manage everything from the Wallet app on iPhone, and the card makes it really easy to identify how much interest you’d pay if you are not able to pay off the full credit card balance (definitely strive to make full payments your goal to avoid interest, though).

There’s also a newer feature called Apple Card Family, allowing you to create a Family Sharing group to share the card and help others build credit. This feature alone makes the Apple Card one of the best credit cards for beginners. However, if you plan to apply directly rather than being added as an authorized user, it may be difficult to get as your first credit card. So, consider it as your second or third card while you’re in the earlier stages of building your credit score.
