Of all the best travel credit cards on the market, the American Express Platinum Card usually comes to mind first. Although its earning power is not great for everyday spending, where it really stands out is with all of the premium travel benefits (and more recently, lifestyle benefits). Here's my full Amex Platinum Card review...

For the initial public welcome offer, you can earn 80,000 Amex Membership Rewards points after spending $6,000 in the first 6 months (worth $800+ for flights). However, there may also be Amex Platinum 150K offers on a targeted basis. The Amex Platinum Resy offers tend to be good as well.

The Amex Platinum annual fee is now $695.

To earn Amex Membership Rewards points long term, the Amex Platinum Card offers the following earning categories:
- 5X Flights - booked directly with the airlines or via the Amex Travel portal on up to $500K spend per year.
- 5X Hotels when they’re prepaid and booked via the Amex Travel portal.
- 1X Other Purchases.

What are Amex points worth?
- 1 point = 1.7¢ on average when redeemed via Amex Transfer partners.
- 1 point = 1.0¢ for flights and Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts bookings via the Amex Travel portal.
- 1 point = 0.7¢ for hotels, car rentals, cruises, and vacations.
- 1 point = 0.6¢ for cash back as a statement credit.
