Are you new to the world of travel credit cards and looking for one to help you save money on your next vacation? The Chase Sapphire Preferred can be an excellent choice! While it may not be the right credit card for everyone, it surely offers one of the best overall rewards and benefits packages while being easy to use.

While it’s likely NOT going to be a good choice if you’re looking for your first credit card ever, it can be a solid choice as your 2nd (or later) credit card (and perhaps first TRAVEL credit card) after building your credit for about a year with a good credit score.

Here are my Top 7 Reasons why the Chase Sapphire Preferred is a great choice…

Note: Terms apply to all Chase offers, rewards, and benefits. Visit chase.com to learn more.

Reason 1: High-Value Welcome Offer. You can earn 60,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months. These Chase points are worth $600 toward cash back or $750 toward travel (at a minimum). Getting a lot of points quickly up front is an awesome way to save a lot of money on a trip that isn’t too far away.

Reason 2: Good Reward Multipliers. The CSP earns 5X on Travel via the Chase Ultimate Rewards Portal, 3X Dining, 3X Online Grocery, 3X Select Streaming, 2X Other Travel, and 1X Other Purchases. Certain restrictions apply (see video for more).

Reason 3: Strong Rewards Value. When you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, you’ll be earning Ultimate Rewards points. 1 point = 1.0¢ towards cash back or 1.25¢ towards travel at a minimum. Having these guaranteed, flat-rate values makes for a compelling rewards program without much hassle.

Reason 4: High Rewards Flexibility. You can redeem Chase points in a variety of ways, including using Chase Transfer Partners to gain access to higher potential value. Currently these include:
AIRLINES
- Aer Lingus AerClub
- Air Canada Aeroplan
- British Airways Executive Club
- Air France-KLM Flying Blue
- Emirates Skywards
- Iberia Plus
- JetBlue TrueBlue
- Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
- Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards
- United MileagePlus
- Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
HOTELS
- IHG One Rewards
- Marriott Bonvoy
- World of Hyatt

Reason 5: Comprehensive Protections. The Chase Sapphire Preferred gives you both travel protections and retail protections. See video to learn more.

Reason 6: Benefits Cover the Annual Fee. From the $50 Hotel Credit and Partner Benefits with Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart, and Gopuff, there are a lot of ways to cover the $95 annual fee very easily.

Reason 7: Part of a Card Ecosystem. You can combine Chase Sapphire Preferred points with other Chase credit cards, including the Chase Freedom Flex and Chase Freedom Unlimited. And on the business side, the Chase Ink Business Unlimited, Chase Ink Business Cash, and Chase Ink Business Preferred all earn Ultimate Rewards points, too. You can pool ALL of them together into 1 point balance and make them ALL worth 1.25¢ (or more) towards travel!
