Unstable and emotionally vulnerable, Evelyn Heath will spend time at the Proctor house, taken in by Dan, her doctor and fiancé. She alienates Miriam, Douglas' model, and turns him against her own daughter, Lee. She ultimately plays with everyone's lives, but finds a worthy opponent in Aunt Martha, who discovers her weak point: her ornithophobia.
