EMU expert talks about total solar eclipse in metro Detroit

The total solar eclipse on Monday afternoon will be different for so many reasons. Not only is this a rare event, but tanks to social media, more people are expected to be watching the sky today to see it than ever before. In Michigan, we are expected to see between 80 percent and 90 percent of the eclipse, with the best coverage coming for a couple minutes around 2:30 p.m. We got a chance to talk with an expert at the Eastern Michigan University observatory to talk about why the hype for the event is real.
