we take every precaution possible. unless we cleared the forest or decided not to live on it's edge, immersed in nature. we can't cut down every huge branch. hundreds of thousands of people live this way. even in suburban type neighborhoods in the city or just outside city limits (unicorporated but still part of the city just slightly different rules, little more country.. etc horses, catlle corn, less permits, less code, u know the drill)

there are very tall old trees everywhere. flooding is the biggest concern. and wind. sometimes we can not just abandon the homestead, we have to hunker down during large weather events. if it gets so bad that our lives are at risk beyond what we feel is an acceptable threshold, then we (smart ones) must evacuate.

god help those as they say, who stayed and didn't make it while people in fortified buildings have hurricane parties, and even then, sometimes, rooftops start giving way, all it takes is that one little piece of flashing, that one or 2 nails, left a small gap for the persistant winds to unrelentlessly pummel.

until the piece lifts up, causing more structural instability, creating a cascading domino effect, until water weight and torrential rains in wind gusts strong enough to sweep you away crash down on your living room. it's not a pretty thing to see. or go thru.

always be careful.
