2017 Schindler 5500 MRL Traction Elevator at The Hub at Waverly (Charlotte, NC)

This is my 3rd set of 5500's! I don't know why these are stinking rare for me, but Charlotte has quite a couple in the surrounding area.

I always found the 5500 to be Schindler's oddest model. For one thing, they rarely chime, but when they do it's the same chimes as the modern 3300 (plus the XL) and 3100. If they do have the Up/Down chime (which is super rare to find one with a working Up/Down chime), it's 2000's Potato Quality sound. Some earlier versions had custom EPCO/Adam's fixtures before Linea became more dominant. They also seem to be one of the few modern Schindler elevators that talk on occasion. Apparently, the other MRL models can talk if the owner wants them to, but it's something I (and many others) have yet to witness on something like a 3300 model to name an example.

These run very smooth and look really nice, plus they talk, although rather quietly. I wish these models were more common. Don't get me wrong, I like the other modern Schindler MRL models like the 3300, 3300 XL, and even the 3100, but these 5500's are so much more unique and odd compared to the others.
