NYT: Ukraine will not cut the land corridor to Crimea

The Ukrainian armed forces will not achieve strategic goals as part of their counteroffensive and will not be able to narrow or cut the land corridor to Crimea. This was reported by The New York Times with reference to American officials.

“In the near future, it will be even more difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters to move due to the fact that the ground will be sticky and dirty. Also, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will need several weeks to take a break to replenish supplies and rest for soldiers who are exhausted by the summer battles in southern Ukraine,” the message says.

Journalists write that Russian minefields and defensive structures turned out to be much more serious than previously thought. Ukrainian military personnel are “extremely concerned about the large losses that could be caused by any attempt to break through the defenses” of the Russian army, the material says.

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the counteroffensive amounted to 71.5 thousand people. Kyiv also lost 543 tanks and almost 18 thousand armored vehicles of various classes.

Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said that by the end of 2023, the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will amount to 500 thousand people. On the Die Welt TV channel, journalist Steffen Schwarzkopf previously reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were suffering colossal and irreparable losses during the fighting.

In the Rabotino area (Zaporozhye region), the Ukrainian Armed Forces suffered catastrophic losses, The New York Times wrote. The author of the material clarified that over time the number of Ukrainian military deaths will increase.
