We all have made an attempt at creating a flip book animation on the corners of our notebooks in school, but one artist took it all to the next level by adding a motor for an endless animation! Los Angeles based artist Federico Tobon, also known as WolfCat, loves working with his hands beyond sketching.

His latest creation dawned on his Instagram profile back in July and the hearts of everyone exploded with excitement. His creation - a flip book with an edge. He added a drill to provide endless power source for his doodles and the Internet is mesmerized!

In an interview for a site called DoodlersAnonymous.com, Federico admits that the process took him about eight hours over the course of several days, with the most labor-intensive part being each of the frames. He ran into a few mishaps along the way, but it was nothing the seasoned artist can’t handle.

The inspiration for the drill came from coin-operated motion picture devices called “mutoscopes”. That and another fellow artist with a similar, but more elaborate design, made Federico want to explore the matter further. He had the frames mounted on a spindle, but no box yet, so he improvised with the drill and the viral clip was born!
