1. **St. Thomas of Villanova's Birth:** St. Thomas of Villanova was born on September 18, 1488, in Fuentellana, Spain, into a noble but impoverished family with deeply virtuous parents.

2. **Early Life and Education:** After a virtuous childhood in Villanova, he graduated with high honors from the University of Alcalá.

3. **Entry into the Augustinian Order:** At the age of 28, he joined the St. Augustine friars at Salamanca and took his vows in 1517, the same year as Martin Luther's apostasy.

4. **Teaching and Preaching:** St. Thomas taught Scholastic Theology in Salamanca and became known for his persuasive sermons, which led to his appointment as the court preacher of Emperor Charles V.

5. **Charity and Humility:** St. Thomas was renowned for his charity and humility, known as the "Almsgiver" and the "Father of the Poor." He wore the same habit from his novitiate and lived a simple, austere life.

6. **Archbishop of Valencia:** In 1544, he was obliged under obedience to accept the Archbishopric of Valencia, a position he initially refused.

7. **Miraculous Rain:** When St. Thomas was appointed Archbishop of Valencia, the region was suffering from drought. Upon his appointment, rain poured abundantly, seen as a sign of grace and redemption.

8. **Reform and Charity:** St. Thomas implemented gradual reforms within the clergy and extended his charitable work to all the faithful. He was known for his munificence and miracles, including healing the sick and multiplying food.

9. **Ecstasies:** St. Thomas experienced numerous ecstasies, which he sometimes described in his sermons, reflecting his profound spiritual experiences.

10. **Death and Legacy:** After 11 years as Archbishop, St. Thomas of Villanova died on September 8, 1555, the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lady. He gave his bed to a poor man in his final moments. His legacy includes a great number of sermons and theological writings, with a grandiose style reminiscent of St. Bernard.
