Verdict In: I Face Judgement For My Vehicular Crimes - And Have A 280-mile Expedition To Get There
To be fair, ALL these ... okay, technically "crimes" but nothing to do with drugs, alcohol, moving violations or malfeasance. Sometmes you just have to compromise some priorities (if not condone). And it worked out that for each weekly (maybe) run into town, it was costing me x3 in insurance than fuel just to make the 30 mile supply dashes on virtually empty roads devoid of traffic.
Um, except it only takes one other car, nitwit or bad luck in town. And the main route through is Highway 212. My bad. And got away with it for 4 months. Supposed inevitable the few deputies with a patrol station in Ashland would start to notice to the green Envoy w/Lewis & Clark County plates after a year or so! And why the travel to Forsyth?
Forsyth is the county seat of Rosebud County where I got nailed. I live in Powder River County (county seat only 50 miles away or so in Broadus. However, Ashland is about 3 miles into Rosebud. Yet another topographical and logistical ... feature? ... of the region. HOWEVER ...
Montana will just deliver another chance to see things you ordinarily would never have a reason to be in the area to see. Always wanted to see Colstrip and that huge, duh, coal-fired power plant. Little tourist shots as full battery turned out barely charged and, of course, had a fancy charge cable vs the 15 on board. Would like to say it was a very green, attractive town. And the landscape (esp between Lame Deer and Colstrip) was stunning. Green valleys, rolling prairies with long low mountain ridges and tons of badlands-type mesas, pinnacles and breathtaking combinations. Decent road, little to not traffic.
But also the vastness of Uh-Oh. Not A Place To Break Down. Oh, someone would pass and there are a few random ranches and farms ... on a clear morning warming up to summer temps it would be a nice place if it HAD to happen (and there was a cell signal) but couldn't help imagining it during a blizzard. The people here are prepared, of course.
Forgot to mention I DO have to complete 7 hours of community service. The adult living center in Ashland was mentioned, where I had done a Halloween yammer for Haunted Marysville, Montana last year. Nice folk. Thinking of somehow using a chunk of pumpkin crop for a Jack O' Lantern event or something. We'll see. Better than $680 in fines!
