Manhattan-based standup comedian, screenwriter, and actor Sam Bloomstone experienced an epiphany while mired in pandemic-induced, existential questioning. It was then he figured out his foundational motivation for being an entertainer: battling for stage time in his family as the youngest of three brothers. “I was always fighting to gain another 30 seconds of my parent’s attention, and one day I realized I got a little more stage time when I made them laugh,” Bloomstone shares.

Today, Bloomstone commands attention as a comedic situational storyteller. His playfully irreverent writing weaves in callbacks, metaphors, memoir, politics, social commentary, absurdism, and clever embellishments. Sometimes, he playfully pokes at the line of decorum, but Bloomstone’s intention is to always uplift rather than to provoke. Onstage, Bloomstone is intuitive at reading rooms and an animated performer who cleverly and hilariously acts out his narratives with wild gesticulations, which sometimes include emphatically pointing to non-existent props. Offstage, Bloomstone is a multi-faceted screenwriter who has penned an action-comedy feature, and continues to write pilots targeted for streaming services. Bloomstone is also an empathic and supportive “serve-the-work” collaborator suited to writing rooms, team sketch work, and co-writing opportunities.

He’s a fixture on the NYC comedy circuit, performing all over the city at hotspot venues such as Gotham Comedy Club, Broadway Comedy Club, Stand Up NY, The Stand, and The Comic Strip, among others. Bloomstone also hosts and produces his own comedy show series, Comical Imbalance, which runs throughout the city. He has been on the Juicy Scoop Podcast with Heather McDonald to discuss his run-in with the Real Housewives of New York and Orange County
