CHERNOBYL EXCLUSION ZONE (what is it really like?)

31/8/19 - Pripyat Ukraine - a surreal day visiting the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone near Kiev (Kyiv) Ukraine. After the Chernobyl HBO series, tourism to the Exclusion Zone has massively increased (by 40%!) This is what a day tour in Chernobyl is like. We visited abandoned villages and explored houses, shops and Houses of Culture. We saw the last remaining statue of Lenin in Ukraine. We ate lunch in Hotel Chernobyl where you can stay if you are doing a two-day tour. We saw some of the vehicles and robots used in the clean up process. We visited the New Safe Confinement for Reactor No 4. We visited the abandoned town of Pripyat, exploring different areas and even going up a 16 story apartment block to get a view over the whole city. We went with a company called Solo East.
