Parashar Lake is in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. It contains a floating island. The lake is believed to be the microcosm of the planet with the floating island being its axis of revolution. The island floats toward the east in the morning and reaches the west by the evening. The local residents go on to say that the time when the island ceases to float would be the time of catastrophe. It has a three storied pagoda-like temple on its bank dedicated to the sage Prashar who meditated here. The temple was built by Raja Ban Sen of Mandi in 14th century in honor of the sage.
