2017 Tesla Model X is having sheet metal surgery

Our technical manager Greg has visited Kallemeyn Collision Center in Lemont, Illinois. The shop was in the process of repairing a 2017 Tesla Model X with collision damage on the rear body, trunk floor, and right rear quarter panel requiring replacement.
Tesla, like most Vehicle manufacturers, requires specific equipment as well as OEM parts and materials to make this type of repair correctly. With the help of a Celette Fixture Bench, Dedicated Jigs, and following the manufactures procedures to the T, the shop with trained technicians such as Bill and Gus makes easy work of this type of repair.
Gus had pre-fit all the new panels, complete with the fixtures for the quarter panel strut tower location and rear body panel chassis legs. (rear bumper mounting points) Once this was done he made a roadmap as he refers to it the video of all the drill holes needed, marking the points and then drilling all according to the proper size hole needed for the various sizes of required rivets. Then all the panels were removed and surface areas were prepared for adhesives to bond the panel together. Adhesives being applied to the panel and is predrilled to fit made it very easy to assemble in stages as seen in the video. Proper procedures are important for long-lasting and SAFE repair.
