The governor of New Mexico, Michelle Lujan Grisham, recently used a new trick to effectively ban guns in the state. She issued an emergency order, and declared that there was a public health crisis. This time, the crisis wasn’t about viruses—it was about firearms. She put in place an order that would last at least 30 days, and banned the public from carrying guns.

The move quickly backfired, however. The police chief, sheriff, and district attorney are refusing to enforce the new law. People are protesting with their firearms in open defiance. They’re threatening major lawsuits against the governor, and anyone who enforces her order. And now a judge has frozen the governor's gun ban. Here to speak with us about this is Arnold Gallegos, owner of ABQ Guns in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a police officer in the Jemez Springs Police Department.
