Arriving in Sunderland - Coast to Coast Cycle Day 4: Consett to Sunderland | C2C 2021

We made it! Sunderland was the last stop on our Coast to Coast (or C2C) cycle across the whole of England! Day 4: Consett-Sunderland - around 46km of cycling in some really bad weather!

We climbed out of Consett and made our way in some awful rain closer and closer to Sunderland. Although there wasn't too much elevation or distance in store for us, the weather took it's toll and the journey took longer than I imagine it would have done in the sun! One flat en route but we made it to Sunderland and dipped our front tyres in the sea, as is tradition! We stayed in The Hilton Garden Inn right next to the Stadium of Light and, as it was match day, we were able to get food from the burger vans easily for lunch. A chilled afternoon followed by some great Thai food and beers... just what we deserved!

// Extra C2C info // Our route was from Whitehaven, on the west coast, to Sunderland, on the east coast. This is possibly the best C2C route, taking us through England’s Lake District National Park and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. How long does it take to do the C2C cycle?
