S2-E9 A day in the life of our first workamping job, and what questions to ask to get the next one. And we take you on a fun trip to a cowboy bar in Bandera, Texas.

In this episode, we are showing you all the cool things that go on at our workamping job. And we take you on a fun trip to a cowboy bar in Bandera, Texas.

We are working at Twisted Horns Ridge in the Texas Hill Country until the end of September. This is our first workamping job and our first time working on a ranch. We love to help feed the antelope, goats, longhorns, and chickens. But Tammy’s favorite 2 animals on the ranch, are the longhorn steer Essex, and Handsome Hudson the goat.

The cabins we clean are designed for the most romantic getaways. There’s hot tubs, cowboy pools, Blackstone griddles, fire pits, and the softest 5 star bedding & towels at every cabin. And every cabin is secluded, so you can have a great time. There’s plenty of other things to do for the guests. Like taking a hike through the trees and watching the blackthorn antelope play. Taking an evening stroll to play with the goats or help collect eggs from the chickens. But almost every guest loves to come down and help feed the longhorn steers. The steers will even pose for a picture with you! :-)

We clean 2 cabins a week to pay for our spot & full hook ups. And we get paid for every cabin we clean after that. We have a really nice campsite, with a cowboy pool, and a table, chairs and umbrella. We are in the last campsite and have about an acre for the dogs to run and play beside us. We also get to eat as many farm fresh eggs as we want. :-)

We really love working here on the Ranch, and will be sad to go. But there’s more places for us to explore. So we are working to line up our next workamping job. We have learned a bit more about what questions to ask during our interviews and we share those with you. If we have missed any, please let us know in the comments below.

We also take you to the 11th Street Cowboy Bar in Bandera, Texas. The cowboy capitol of the world. It’s touted as the biggest little honky tonk in Texas. It’s a world famous bar that has been featured in USA Today, Life Magazine, Texas Monthly and many more publications and radio shows. In 2008, the 11th Street Cowboy Bar was the host to the Texas Presidential Primary and Texas Elections.
