Part 2 "Politics and Arms" (22 Sept. 1986) : Washington uses politics, and sometimes armed force, to keep the USA united. Washington planned to resign after his first term, but political strife convinces him to remain in office. He is an able administrator and a judge of talent and character, and he regularly talks with department heads to get their advice. He tolerates opposing views, despite fears that a democratic system would lead to political violence, and he conducts a smooth transition of power to his successor.

'George Washington II: The Forging of a Nation' is a 1986 television series, and was the sequel to the 1984 miniseries George Washington. This series chronicles the life of George Washington, the first President of the United States. 'George Washington II: The Forging of a Nation' is based on the George Washington biography by James Thomas Flexner. It explores the life of George Washington as the first President of the United States of America and his 8 years running his country. The trials he faces dealing with mobs and riots while keeping the country together.

The series was directed by William A. Graham and stars Barry Bostwick and Patty Duke Astin. The theme music (a lame mish-mash of Antonio Vivaldi's 'The Four Seasons') was supposedly composed by Bruce Broughton (when he was drunk, I imagine).
