Part 1 "Precedent" (21 Sept. 1986) : Washington, as President, deals with working out the forms and mechanisms the US federal government will operate under. In every single decision he made, Washington was mindful of the fact he would set a precedent for all of his successors. In fact, it was the general understanding by the founding fathers, that Washington would be the first US President when they made the US Constitution in 1788.

'George Washington II: The Forging of a Nation' is a 1986 television series, and was the sequel to the 1984 miniseries George Washington. This series chronicles the life of George Washington, the first President of the United States. 'George Washington II: The Forging of a Nation' is based on the George Washington biography by James Thomas Flexner. It explores the life of George Washington as the first President of the United States of America and his 8 years running his country. The trials he faces dealing with mobs and riots while keeping the country together.

The series was directed by William A. Graham and stars Barry Bostwick and Patty Duke Astin. The theme music (a lame mish-mash of Antonio Vivaldi's 'The Four Seasons') was supposedly composed by Bruce Broughton (when he was drunk, I imagine).
