When Truth is Called Insanity | The Conflicts Between Personal Beliefs & God's Word
When Truth is Called Insanity
Many people today are facing a dilemma: they believe in God and His Word, but they also want to fit in with the world and its values. They are afraid of being labeled as insane, irrational, or intolerant for holding on to their faith. They may even doubt their own sanity when they see how the world is changing and rejecting God's truth. How can they cope with this conflict between their personal beliefs and God's Word?
One way is to remember that God's truth is not based on human opinions, feelings, or preferences. It is based on His eternal and unchanging character, His perfect wisdom, and His sovereign authority. God's truth is not relative or subjective; it is absolute and objective. It does not change with the times or the trends; it remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. God's truth is not a matter of personal interpretation or preference; it is a matter of revelation and obedience. God's truth is not something we create or invent; it is something we discover and submit to.
Another way is to realize that the world's rejection of God's truth is not a sign of our insanity, but of their blindness. The Bible tells us that the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ (2 Corinthians 4:4). The world does not understand or accept God's truth because they do not have the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 2:14). The world hates and opposes God's truth because they love darkness rather than light (John 3:19). The world calls God's truth insanity because they have exchanged the truth of God for a lie (Romans 1:25).
Therefore, we should not be ashamed or afraid of being called insane for believing in God and His Word. We should rather rejoice and be glad, for we are blessed when people insult us, persecute us, and falsely say all kinds of evil against us because of Jesus (Matthew 5:11). We should also pray for those who call us insane, that God would open their eyes and hearts to see and receive His truth. We should also speak the truth in love, with gentleness and respect, to those who are willing to listen (Ephesians 4:15; 1 Peter 3:15). We should also live out the truth in our words and actions, so that they may see our good deeds and glorify God (Matthew 5:16).
We live in a world where truth is called insanity, but we have a God who is the source and standard of all truth. Let us hold fast to His Word, trust in His promises, and follow His commands. Let us not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Let us not be afraid of what people think or say about us, but be faithful to what God thinks and says about us. Let us not compromise our convictions or values, but stand firm in our faith. Let us not lose hope or joy, but be filled with the Spirit and the peace that surpasses all understanding.
