Abandoned community outside of Vancouver. Things you need to know about Vancouver. In the Vancouver area is a small town called Port Moody, British Columbia. There is an area called Ioco, an abbreviation of Imperial Oil Corporation, it's an abandoned town that is located on the northern shore of the Burrard Inlet. Ioco was originally a town site for an Imperial Oil refinery.

The refinery began operation in January 1915. By 1917, there were 200 people living in this small shack town, which had a school and 2 grocery stores. The land was cleared and construction on houses began in 1920. In all, there were 83 houses built. The townsite also had a grocery store, community hall, a tennis court and lawn bowling green, and 2 churches. This is a cool abandoned community.
