The Nipah virus is transmitted by fruit bats, which can pass the virus to humans through contact with contaminated bodily fluids such as saliva or urine left on fruits. Five additional cases have been identified, which include a child of one of the individuals affected. Moreover, testing has been conducted on over 800 individuals.
