Everyone Agrees: It's an Existential Struggle | Dr. Igor Istomin on Russian Perception of the War
🌟In this talk, Dr. Igor Istomin discusses Russia's perception of the war in Ukraine, the impact this has on Russian daily live, the foreign policy of Russia before and after the outbreak of large-scale hostilities in 2022, and the role of non-western countries in Russian strategic thinking. He highlights the role of institutionalism in post-Soviet Russia and makes the point that the one thing Washington, Kyiv, and Moscow agree—for different reason—is that the war is a tectonic shift and an existential struggle.
Dr. Igor Istomin is an Associate Professor at the Department of Applied International Political Analysis, at the MGIMO University, in Moscow. He is also a former senior Fellow at the Harvard Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies. He is the author of more than 70 academic publications on Russian and U.S. foreign policy, Euro-Atlantic matters, and international security. He is also a regular contributor to media and think tank debates.
