In Ukraine Everyone Is Fighting For Survival | Ján Čarnogurský, Former Prime Minister Of Slovakia
🌟Today I’m speaking with a very special guest, Dr. Ján Čarnogurský, the former Prime Minister of Slovakia.
Dr. Carnogursky was and still is an important Eastern European dissident turned politician because he opposed many of the policies of his home state, Czechoslovakia when it was still under tight communist control. Today he is a lawyer and close observer of current affairs about Russia and Ukraine.
Dr. Carnogursky was born in 1944 in Bratislava. In 1969 he graduated from the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague. He then worked as a lawyer for several years but in 1981 he was fired for advocacy in the political process.
To survive he worked as a driver, but became a corporate lawyer later on before losing his job again in 1987 for being a dissident.
He even went to prison for his political views, form August to November 1989. But two weeks after his release from prison, he became the first Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal government of Czechoslovakia in Prague.
Then, from 1991 - 92 her served as Prime Minister of Slovakia (still within the Czechoslovak Republic) and between 1992-98 he was a Member of the Slovak Parliament and 1998-2002 Minister of Justice of the Slovak Republic.
Today he still works as a lawyer in Bratislava, he is the Chairman of the Coordinating Council of the International Association of Friends of Crimea and is the chairman of the Slovak-Russian Society.
