We just got a fantastic package from the team at RetroBit, something that I have been looking forward to for some time. They announced in the summer of 2023 that they were coming out with an NES wireless controller, called the Origin8. Available in three different design themes, the one we received is patterned after the Game Boy, and this thing looks awesome.

Out of the box, it is of course compatible with the original NES, but it's also compatible with the Nintendo Switch and other USB-compatible devices. The controller comes with two different dongles to accomplish this. In addition, the controller itself has a lot of really cool features built into it. There's a home and capture button to use with a Nintendo Switch, and there are also L & R triggers towards the center of the controller near the charging port. It has very similar button designs to what the original NES had as well, so it looks like it should be a blast to play with.

We will be doing a full-blown unboxing and review, but upon first look, I am absolutely in love. Since this is one of Retro-bit's Platinum series of controllers, that means that this utilizes a higher quality of parts to provide a premium performance. Lag, latency, and delay should all be minimal, and the overall fit and feel of the controller should be excellent as well.

We are super excited to play and test the Origin8, And plan on testing it on clone systems, original hardware, the Nintendo Switch, and I'm also going to try it on my Xbox Series S to see if it works with things such as the Disney afternoon collection. Is this something you would use? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
