STORYLINE:
The mountainous Al Haouz Province suffered significant damage in the magnitude 6.8 earthquake that struck Morocco.

Remote villages were largely cut off from the world when they lost electricity and cellphone service.

More than 2,000 people have been killed in the earthquake, and many more injured. Morocco will observe three days of national mourning.
