The US military went from “don’t ask don’t tell” to celebrating Pride Month. And that is just one of countless changes by which the national security state is adopting with the intend to co-opd social norms to justify militarism, foreign intervention, and empire building. In this talk, Christopher Mott talks about his seminal paper on “The Woke Imperium” which lays out some of the social mechanisms through which this latest itineration of believe in the messianic duties of the US is taking shape.
