Ukrainian officials say their counteroffensive is gaining momentum and won’t slow down even when bad weather hits. But a top US general says the window for success is closing, with autumn just weeks away.

Western experts say they’ve shown courage and adaptability – but will need more weapons to keep up the progress. Meanwhile Putin’s army is under pressure, facing shortages of men and munitions.
