World War I: The Hidden Agenda

World War I was a pivotal moment in history.

But behind the scenes, there were hidden agendas and secret manipulations.

Woodrow Wilson, the American president, was under the influence of Colonel E. Mandell House.

House edited Wilson's speeches and advised him not to act independently.

Wilson admitted his foolishness and promised "not to act independently in future."

Despite the American public's isolationist outlook, Wilson asked Congress to declare war on Germany shortly after his re-election in 1916.

The excuse?

German U-boats were sinking American ships.

The sinking of the British warship Lusitania, which resulted in many American deaths, was used as a propaganda tool.
