In this episode, I reconnect with an old friend, Jesse Lobato, Sr. We reminisce about our days in America, including the time he drove me to The BART station before my journey to Thailand. Despite the miles, our friendship has grown, especially as we've both embraced fatherhood since our last in-person meeting.

Our shared passion for martial arts led to countless stories, sparring sessions, and lessons in humility and respect. Jesse speaks candidly about his transition from street fighting to finding inner peace through martial arts training. We delve into the importance of psychology in parenting, with Jesse sharing insights from the books and lectures he consumed to understand developmental psychology. Additionally, we discuss my dissertation on the concept of a 'good death' and our mutual connections with family.

While I follow a vegan lifestyle, I have deep respect for Jesse's approach to hunting and fishing, seeing it as a form of foraging and agriculture. As the conversation unfolds, we discuss the potential of him visiting my land, currently termed "the gathering," in the future, emphasizing the richness of in-person connections and the beauty of living off the land.

Tune in to hear a heartfelt conversation that bridges miles, cultures, and life philosophies.
