Can Men Be LESBIANS?

Peter Boghossian discussed the claim “men can be lesbians” with four women and one man in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In this frustrating conversation, the confusion surrounding terms like “sex” and “gender” is on full display as the group tries to define “lesbian,” “man,” and “woman.”

Participants consider natal and surgically-produced reproductive organs, masculine and feminine characteristics, and personal attraction to transgender individuals. Diverse viewpoints are presented, but all participants agree that people can identify however they’d like. As one participant put it, “all that actually matters is that you can feel good.”
