From The 8:32 article which will be in The Light.
Above us the stars were a frozen river of possibilities and so much unfathomable space, it makes you
wonder why freedom would ever be challenged, but here, in a tiny dying Victorian town called
Qambatook, I was around a fire pit, with likeminded people, passionately discussing the current
state of the country, yet despite our concerns, thanks to our presence, we were as vibrant as the
flames that were warming us.
This was the inaugural 8:32 Gathering, and there was no agenda here other than building and
solidifying our community, by communing.
Some brought caravans, some booked cabins, some set up swags. There were children playing, there
were dogs begging for food, and there was laughter and even tears from those who had felt so
isolated, they thought they were going mad. But here, among the brothers and sisters they didn’t
even know they had, they let down their guards and were consoled.
This profound connection is a gift. I have travelled far and wide and met our tribe in nearly every
town. It’s always the same. It’s like we are united beyond our ability to articulate in any other terms
than spiritual.
I first saw this spiritual connection in the Melbourne anti-lock-down marches, then again at Camp
Epic where people openly spoke about how they were compelled to come; were reacting to a
calling.
