9/11 remembered: On 22nd anniversary, lawmakers honor those lost

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was among the lawmakers honoring the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, on the eve of its 22nd anniversary.

McCarthy said that at 8:46 a.m. on Monday, Congress will "recognize Patriot Day by observing a moment of silence." It was at that time on 9/11 that the first plane hit the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City.
