Overnight, I Becomed A Star On Instagram.

Hi, I am Natalie and I want to tell you about how I became popular on Instagram, with thousands and thousands of followers. OK, so it all started about a year ago. I had been stuck with only five hundred followers, for what felt like forever! I noticed that other people in my school were reaching more than one thousand followers, and some even more than ten thousand! I was seriously jealous. I just wanted to be popular like them. They were always posting photos of themselves on the beach with their perfect golden tans and their perfectly defined abs. Their weekends seemed to be jam-packed with constant fun, whereas I would be at home trying to finish my essays and looking after my baby sister while my mum worked night shifts in the hospital, just so she could afford to send me to school.

One day, during the summer holidays, after I finished vacuuming the house, I was scrolling through my Instagram feed and I just felt this surge of envy run through me. Chris was surfing in Hawaii, Colette was doing yoga in Bali, and here I was, running laps around the garden trying to keep up with my baby sister. I’d had enough! No-one was liking my photos of my morning smoothie bowls even though I was using the right hashtags. No-one cared that I was working at the local cinema. Nothing exciting was happening in my life at all!
