On June 7, 2011, the Sun put on a dazzling show as it unleashed an M-2 (medium-sized) solar flare accompanied by a breathtaking coronal mass ejection (CME). This captivating event was captured by NASA's Solar Dynamic Observatory (SDO), providing us with a front-row seat to witness the sheer power and beauty of our star.

The eruption sent a colossal cloud of solar particles surging upwards, only to gracefully cascade back down, creating the illusion of covering nearly half of the Sun's surface. The Solar Dynamic Observatory (SDO) diligently recorded this celestial spectacle in extreme ultraviolet light, allowing us to witness the mesmerizing eruption of cool gas.
