Dog With Underbite Really Loves Peanut Butter

What is it with dogs and peanut butter? There doesn’t seem to a dog out there that doesn’t want that delicious, sticky stuff. Dog owners have been using it as a treat, they would smear it on their noses, they would put it in some homemade doggie biscuits, some have even tried to use peanut butter to hide the smell and taste of medicine!

Labston gets some peanut butter as a treat and he can't get enough of it. After finishing all the peanut butter on the spoon in record time (and almost eating the spoon in the process), he continues to lick up any peanut butter that didn't make it into his mouth on the first attempt.

That underbite doesn’t seem to stop the poor pooch from enjoying his favorite treat, but it mean that you can treat your dog to some delicious nut butter if you see them enjoying it? Here’s what the AKC has to say about it.

Basically, yes, it is safe for you to give your dog peanut butter as a treat, but only in moderation! Peanut butter can be an excellent source of protein and healthy fats, vitamins B and E, and niacin, which can have a multitude of positive effects on your pet’s health. Just make sure that the butter you give them is sodium free, as high sodium can be problematic for dogs. If you can, make peanut butter from scratch in your own home. It might not be smooth like the store bought stuff, but it will be much more delicious!
