Surah Al-Kahf, also known as "The Cave," is the 18th chapter of the Quran. It contains 110 verses (ayat) and is a Makki surah, meaning it was revealed in the early period of the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) prophethood in the city of Mecca. The exact date of its revelation is not known, but it was revealed before the Prophet's migration to Medina. Regarding the recommended times to recite Surah Al-Kahf, there are various traditions (hadith) that mention the virtues of reciting it on Fridays, specifically on the day of Jumu'ah (Friday). While the Quran itself does not specify a particular day for its recitation, these hadiths emphasize the significance of reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays: Hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari: It is narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on the day of Jumu'ah, a light will shine for him from beneath his feet to the clouds of the sky, which will shine for him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be forgiven (his sins) between the two Fridays." (Sahih al-Bukhari) Hadith in Sahih Muslim: The Prophet (peace be upon him) also encouraged the recitation of Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays, and it is mentioned that doing so provides illumination for the week until the next Friday. (Sahih Muslim)
