Activists from the group ANV-COP21 used organic paint to make this fresco on a dry riverbed in southern France. The group created the painting to call out gas and oil corporation TotalEnergies for its contribution to the climate crisis, which has worsened drought conditions in the country.
‘Oil, gas and coal producers are the main culprits of climate change, as clearly established by the IPCC,’ ANV-COP21 spokesperson Zoé Pélegry said in a press release. ‘[TotalEnergies] has known for decades that its activities are increasing global temperatures, with devastating consequences. But instead of using this information to find solutions, they have hidden it and lied to the public in order to continue reaping huge profits. This is both terrifying and unacceptable.’
