Korean cream cheese buns, also known as "Korean cream cheese garlic bread" or "Korean cream cheese hotteok," have gained popularity in recent years. These buns are a delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors, featuring a soft bread roll filled with cream cheese and a garlic-infused buttery topping. Here's a basic recipe to make Korean cream cheese buns at home:

Ingredients:

For the bread:

6 soft bread rolls (you can use dinner rolls or hot dog buns)
300 grams (about 1 cup) cream cheese, softened
1 tsp granulated sugar

For the garlic butter topping:

100 grams or 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 tbsp. garlic, minced
2 tsp dried or fresh parsley, finely chopped
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 egg
Cheese for topping (cheddar or mozzarella)

Instructions:

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined. You can adjust the sugar amount to your preference.

Cut each bread bun without cutting all the way through, creating a pocket for the cream cheese filling.

Generously fill each bread bun with the prepared cream cheese mixture with the help of a piping bag.

In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, egg, salt and pepper. Adjust the salt to taste.

Generously brush the garlic butter mixture over the top of each filled bun or dip the buns upside down, making sure to coat them well. Top them shredded cheese.

Place the prepared buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or in a baking dish.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melty.

They are best enjoyed while still warm.

Korean cream cheese buns are a delicious treat that combines the sweetness of cream cheese with the savory goodness of garlic butter. You can customize the sweetness and garlic flavor to your liking. These buns make a great snack or even a side dish for your favorite Korean meal. Enjoy!
