Bells Beach Longboard Classic: An Aerial Perspective 31 Aug 2023

The Bells Beach Longboard Classic may have concluded a few days ago, but the surfing energy still resonates along the coast. We took our drone out to capture the lingering vibes of this iconic event, and what we witnessed was purely Australian—both wild and mesmerising.

The video begins late in the afternoon with the sun casting golden rays upon roughly 50 longboard surfers carving waves in unison. The shoreline still bears the setup from the event—podiums, commentary boxes, and spectator stands—all empty but full of recent memories.

As you go higher, you'll see storm clouds majestically rolling in from the north-west, offering a stark contrast to the sunlit ocean. The interplay between light and shadow on the water is simply poetic. The onshore breeze lightly ruffles the sea surface as if a painter stroked his brush ever so lightly across a canvas of deep blue.

The Bells Beach Longboard Classic, one of only four events on the WSL World Longboard Tour in 2023, unfolded right here just days before. As the drone soars over the water, you almost hear the past cheers of the crowd and the announcers calling out spectacular moves. For a brief moment, you'll be transported back to the competition days, feel the thrills, the excitement, and the spirit of Australian surfing.

All the while, our drone pans and zooms to offer 180-degree views, a full 360, and finally, a 4K video that brings you as close to the action as possible. Trust us; this is the closest you can get to reliving the Longboard Classic, short of being there yourself.
