Cycling efficiency versus cars in terms of calories burned; showing the math, as there are somewhat differing estimates out there.
The average cyclist can go 500 miles (+/- 25% or so) on a gallon of gas for the amount of equivalent calories. Like a 50 lb bag of rice is about = to 1 gal of gas in terms of caloric energy... not actually drinking the gasoline (nobody do that)....If only we had built cities for pedestrians and cycles instead of 1+ton cars.
