The King is in the Field!!

In biblical days, it was tradition for the King to leave his palace and go to the fields to visit his people during the last month of the year. During this time, anyone could approach him without being summoned or going through the appropriate channels to appear before him. He would also check the status of his kingdom and inspect the fields.

Our King, Jesus Christ, is also inspecting the fields and checking the status of his kingdom. He is in the fields, fully accessible with open arms, waiting for us just like the father who saw his prodigal son returning home as we read in Luke 15. Are we going to him in the field? Are we seeking him with the same devotion with which he seeks us to come to Him? Or are we delaying going into the field because there's something we need to take care of or accomplish first?

Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33 to not run after those things, but, instead, "seek first his kingdom and his righteousness" because our Heavenly Father knows our needs and will look after us.

We read in II Chronicles 19:4-7 that King Jehoshaphat went out among the people, through the fields, encouraging the people to return to the Lord...and to change their ways. Notice here that the king went into the fields to call the people to return to God.

Jesus desires the same for us. Our king is in the field calling us to a deeper relationship with himself and the Father. So let us drop everything and run! Run to meet our King in the field, where he is waiting for us with open arms.
