!! 8sec Corvette goes BANG & ends up in Flames at Father's Day Drags 2023

Not the merriest turn of events when attending the biggest Old School Drag Racing event of the Year, Father's Day Drags 2023 down here at Meremere Dragway, south of Auckland New Zealand.
We start the day with great vintage racing, filled with deep growling V8s, smell of rubber, petrol fumes and the typical action you see on a drag strip during a family-friendly event.
Little did we know we were in for a horrible surprise when Mike's 8sec Corvette had a mechanical failure (still to be investigated and confirmed) and had to try save his car and his life by swerving left and right while hitting the barriers not twice but 3 times and ending up engulfed in flames!
A massive sight of relief seeing him alive and well, actually unscathed from what it looked like a severe accident. The car is a wreck, Mike is totally fine just a little shook. And that is what safety is for, to save our precious lives and keep practicing this amazing Sport that it is Drag Racing.

Huge thanks go to the Meremere Marshals, Fire Dept., Medical and First Responders. As you may have noticed in the video, the Marshals get on the go right away with no hesitations, sign of true professionalism and preparedness in such terrible circumstances.
