Terrorist Compensation Underscores Two Problems

With the announcement that the government of Canada will be compensating suspected and admitted terrorist Omar Khadr a sum totaling over $10 million, the controversy surrounding the decision highlights the problems on both sides.

Creating an unnerving precedent, the government of Canada has shown its desire for political correctness by the move. And with more known terrorists being held in places like Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, it opens the door for not only more use of taxpayer funds but also their return to extremist ways.

Conversely, with men and women of the US military charged with overseeing Gitmo and no end in site for the judicial process to begin to charge the remaining detainees, it warrants discussion about the future of those at the Naval Station.

Ultimately, it is the victims of their attacks who deserve to see justice served.
