Storm Shield Forecast morning update 7/12/17

Expect a high of 102 in Bakersfield this afternoon, which will be our 11th consecutive day of triple digits. Some valley spots like Delano & McFarland look to fall to the upper 90s later today. The Kern River Valley will top out in the 90s today with haze while Tehachapi and Frazier Park see the upper 80s. Air quality remains unhealthy for sensitive groups here in the south valley. In fact, our air quality looks to get worse as a southwesterly flow aloft will try to pick up some smoke from the Whittier Fire burning down near Santa Barbara and push it into Kern County the next few afternoons. Our friends in the Kern River Valley are still dealing with smoke from the Schaeffer Fire too.
