The Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance A19 LED Smart Bulbs are a great addition to my smart home. I purchased a pack of 4 to install in my home office ceiling fan.
Adding them to my Echo 2nd gen plus was a breeze since they are connected via Zigbee, which is supported by this model. To make sure I connected the bulbs correctly, I had to turn off some of my other Echos.
I had to remove and re-add the bulbs that didnt connect to the desired Echo, as they were connected via Bluetooth and I wanted them to be connected via Zigbee.
Once I got them re-added, all the bulbs showed up as connected to the correct Echo. Its worth noting that these bulbs are recognized as a Signify Netherlands b.v. smart device, not specifically Philips Hue.
However, they work seamlessly with the Philips Hue ecosystem. While its possible to find lower priced bulbs, its important to consider their longevity and connectivity options.
Cheaper bulbs typically dont last as long and lack Zigbee and Bluetooth capabilities. Connecting bulbs via Bluetooth can be unreliable when using an Echo.
Additionally, lower priced bulbs that rely on Wi-Fi may have limited range and slower response times when interacting with an Echo. In contrast, the Philips Hue bulbs offer a reliable connection and responsiveness.
Im planning to expand my smart home setup by adding more Zigbee bulbs throughout my house. This will allow me to control all my devices with Alexa, creating a fully automated and convenient living space.
Currently, I have over 40 devices connected to just one Echo 2nd gen plus via a single Wi-Fi connection, and they all respond excellently.
